Anime And Manga Series ‘Made In Abyss’ Locks In September Release For Switch

Physical pre-orders now live

Following on from an update in April – revealing Akihito Tsukushi’s long-running anime and manga series Made in Abyss would be coming to the Nintendo Switch this Fall, Spike Chunsoft has now locked in a date.

This game will be arriving on Switch, PlayStation 4 and Steam in both North America and Europe on 2nd September 2022. In addition to the digital release, there’ll also be standard and collector’s edition physical copies up for grabs. Pre-orders are now live in North America.

And here’s a bit about the game, in case you’ve missed our previous coverage (warning – trailers contain strong violence):

Made in Abyss is a fantasy manga by Akihito Tsukushi, published on WEB Comic Gamma (Takeshobo) since 2012. The unique juxtaposition of its gentle art style with a dark, brutal storyline captured the hearts of many fans. A TV anime version aired in 2017 followed by a compilation movie in 2019 and a completely new theatrical movie in January 2020. A sequel to the anime series was also announced in January 2020, promising to provide fans with more exciting content in addition to the manga series.

Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness is an Action RPG in which players themselves descend into the world of the Abyss and grow through their experience in its depths. The game, supervised by original series author Akihito Tsukushi, recreates the world of the Abyss in 3D, including battles with creatures, collecting relics, and “The Curse of the Abyss”. Fans are sure to enjoy the dark fantasy that remains true to the unique flavor of the original work.

The game offers two game modes. “HELLO ABYSS” is a story mode in which players can relive the story of the anime while learning the basic system and how to progress in the game. In “DEEP IN ABYSS,” players can enjoy an original story of a new Cave Raider, who takes on the challenge of exploring the depths of the Abyss. Many characters from Made in Abyss appear, and event scenes are fully-voiced by the cast of the anime.
